I once was given a trial with a mud mask treatment. I will never forget how it started off as a cool feeling and it got worse and worse as the mud mask heated up. I could not withstand the heat it had. I think some sort of self heat generating substance is added to the mud paste before it was applied to my face. I felt like my face was being pressed onto a hot plate and shoved into an oven.
